This summer, the Northarvest Bean Growers Association exhibited dry beans at the 2001 American School Food Service Association (ASFSA) National Convention in Nashville, and the American Culinary Federation (ACF) National Convention in Las Vegas.
At ASFSA, nearly 2,000 attendees stopped by the NBGA booth to receive information about Northarvest dry beans and sample Lean Pinto n Pasta Salad, Spicy Black Bean Salad and Tuscan Pasta. We received wonderful feedback about these dishes with emphasis on the original flavor and interesting use of beans.
ACF was an opportunity to inform chefs about the benefits of cooking with beans, emphasizing new cooking trends involving beans and sample bean dishes created by Chef Susan Goss.
Attendees at both conferences were able to view the recently launched Foodservice Focus, a new section on the NBGA website for foodservice professionals (www.northarvestbean. com). We distributed mouse pads with the website address to encourage visits to the NBGA site.
Professionals at both conferences told us that they enjoyed sampling our unique recipes and that they received valuable information about preparing and cooking with dry beans. Northarvest Bean Growers Association is recognized by attendees of both shows as a credible resource for information on dry beans.
