USDA Planted Acreage

USDA's Planted Acreage report, released Friday, June 29th, estimates US dry bean acreage at 1.633 million acres. This is up 35 percent from last year, but 2 percent, or 37,000 acres below what farmers intended to plant, according to the Prospective Plantings report in March. This year's planted acreage is also 15 percent below two years ago. USDA made no change from March in North Dakota, leaving planted acreage at 660,000 acres, up 61 percent from a year ago. Minnesota dry bean acreage is put at 160,000 acres, 14 percent more than last year, but 10,000 less than the March intentions.
