Dry beans made the trade magazines recently -- thanks to promotion efforts by the Northarvest Bean Growers Association.
Food Management and Foodservice Director highlighted the innovative bean recipes that chefs created for the Northarvest Bean Growers Associations 2001 "Chefs Say Bean Apetit!" Recipe Contest.
Food Director did a full page story titled "Keen on Beans" and wrote about chefs at Presbyertian Homes, a 750-resident senior dining location in Evantson, Ill., and Arbor Glen, a 300- member retirement home in Bridgewater, N.J, that use dry beans in everything from lamb dishes to salads.
Food Management ran an item about how to get the "Chefs Say Bean Appetit!" winning recipes.
