June 01, 2002
The Northarvest Bean Growers Association helped show 2,300 fourth grade students from Minnesota and North Dakota where food comes from.
Northarvest participated in the Fargo Living Ag Classroom April 23-26 at the Red River Fairgrounds in West Fargo.
Other exhibitors included the North Dakota Bee Keepers, NDSU Extension, North Dakota Pork Producers, North Dakota Wheat Commission, North Dakota Farmers Union, Farm Safety 4 Just Kids, North Dakota Beef Commission, American Dairy Association, Ag Ambassadors, Red River Valley Sugarbeet Growers, North Dakota Farm Bureau Oil Seeds, Soil Conservation, Saddle and Sirloin, and the NDSU Deptartment of Animal and Range Sciences.
Major sponsors were Cass County Farm Bureau and Cass County Soil Conservation District.
The Saddle and Sirloin Club brought live animals each day for the students to see including a cow and calf, horse, pigs, ewe and lambs and chickens.
All the presentations encouraged hands-on learning. Lynne Bigwood, Northarvest Home Economist.
