Any new varieties in 2003?
December 20, 2002

Thats the question Northarvest Bean Grower posed to Ken Grafton, North Dakota State Univeristy (NDSU) plant breeder and director of the North Dakota Experiment Station.

His answer:

"We have a few lines that are being increased, but still need additional information before final decisions are made. The 2002 growing season was as variable for the breeding program as for many of the producers in the region in that several locations were affected by heavy rains, so that reliable data could not be collected from those sites. Breeding nurseries were, by and large, unaffected. We are in the process of cleaning harvested seed and collecting yield data in order to see which lines advance."
