The annual pre Bean Day banquet is set for Jan. 22 at the Fargo, N.D., Holiday Inn.
Important: You must call the Northarvest Bean Growers Association office by Jan. 21 to reserve a ticket for the banquet. The Northarvest office phone number is (218) 334-6351. A ticket costs $15 per person. After making a reservation, you may pay at the door. The pre Bean Day banquet starts at with a social. Commercial exhibits and a cash bar will be open. The banquet follows at A Las Vegas Buffet is featured. The menu includes:
"Roast Prime Rib of Beef with Au Jus "Breast of Chicken Bechamel "Whole Smoked Salmon "Baked Duchess Potatoes "Broccoli Casserole "Four Elaborate Salads "Petite Hard Rolls "Beverage "Dessert Entertainment The Dixie Cups will be entertaining at the social. The Dixie Cups are a womens trio from the Page-Colgate, N.D., area who have been entertaining people in and around North Dakota and Minnesota for 12 years. They sing, pretend to dance and tell jokes. Their music includes country western, 50s and 60s, old- time favorites and gospel.The Dixie Cups are Jeanine Brown, who farms near Colgate, N.D.; Deb Davis, who lives on a farm outside of Page, N.D.; and Melainie Mewes, who lives in Colgate. Brown is a CNA at the Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City; Davis is a registered nurse at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D.; and Mewes teaches part-time for Play-n-Learn preschool in Page, N.D. All the women are married, have children and are active in community church activities.
