Turtle River Bean Company, in Manvel, ND, Has a New Owner
November 01, 2001
C and F Foods, a California-based corporation, has purchased the edible bean plant in Manvel from Les Hutton who ran the business for about 10 years. C and F Foods will continue to operate the plant as Turtle River Bean Company and the former companys employees will remain working at the facility, says Luis Faura, C and F Foods president and chief operating officer.
C and F Foods of City of Industry, Calif., is a privately held family-owned company that grows, packs and markets red beans, peas, rice and popcorn. The company supplies the retail, foodservice, canning and food manufacturing industries in the United States and across the world.
C and F Foods buys edible beans from several bean companies in the Red River Valley, but the Turtle River Bean Company is the first bean plant it has purchased in the area, Faura says. It has no plans to purchase any additional facilities in the Red River Valley, he says. C and F Foods also has facilities in Idaho and Missouri.
Purchase of the Turtle River Bean Company allows the company to vertically integrate and brings its production facilities to a total of 400,000 square feet.
